Summative Evaluation

Doing this blog has been such a great learning experience.  It encouraged me to go and seek industry professionals and after contacting a few I was lucky enough to strike gold with Julie Bailey.  In addition to all that I learn on my degree, my time with Julie is unique to what I am trying to do.  She's taken such an interest in getting me to discover my style and I'm now tentatively working on my designs for a collection.  I'm going to visit her again in January 2022.  Her continued support will be invaluable to my jewellery practice I feel.

I will continue to work on my branding and logo. It's been great to have the time to really think about my logo and I worked on lots of different designs.  It made me realise the value of taking your time on designing and coming back to it over a period of time and letting it develop.  I intend to get the logo design I came up with produced into stickers to put on the jewellery that I will sell.

I regularly go to exhibitions, galleries etc and will continue to do so.  I find that I always get something out of every event, even if it's not to my taste.  With my jewellery I am often interested in the shop at such venues as they often have hand made jewellery for sale.  This helps me keep abreast of what's currently on offer.  Such was my experience at The Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Salts Mill.

I've been working on sustainable packaging ideas too and for the time being have concluded that to be true to myself and my values I'd like to avoid fancy boxes etc, and package things in recycled cardboard, as most people don't keep the boxes that jewellery comes in.
